Parents' Comments
Please see what some of our parents have to say about LiCdo Schoolhouse, in their own words, as posted in a preschool website:
"My daughter, En Hsin, graduated from LiCdo Schoolhouse after spending 2 years there. The school is not very big, only about 30 students altogether. Actually that is the great thing about the school. The teacher to student ratio is about 5:1. My daughter really blossomed while she was there.
She used to go to a preschool that has many branches in Singapore, and we had to wait list to get in. But after getting in, we realized that there were nearly 50 children in the K1 class. Going to school was a chore for her.
After going to LiCdo, she loves going to school and she has become more outgoing. Because there is combined play time with other levels (PG to K2), she learned to "take care" of the younger kids in school.
Beside the usual English, Math, Chinese, they having cooking and gardening, which the children love. There's also lots more opportunity for the children in a small school. For example, at their school concert, every K2 child had a chance to stand on stage and give a graduation speech.
Overall, we had a great experience at LiCdo and would recommend it anytime."

"Being an expat (from Australia), I had trouble deciding over whether to send our twins, Gabrielle and Michael, to an international preschool or to LiCdo which was more local to us. I finally decided to send them to LiCdo and I haven't regretted this decision. The staff helped my son and daughter settle into their class and they look forward to going each morning. In fact, some days my son doesn't want to come home!
We would recommend LiCdo for both local and expat children as they provide a well-rounded program including Chinese language skills. More importantly, the children are encouraged to develop socially and to be polite and respectful towards others. I have noticed that Gabrielle and Michael have become more socially aware and are interacting with other children since they started at LiCdo. Thanks and keep up the good work!"

"I would like to thank the staff of LiCdo Schoolhouse for teaching my son Ivan, to be independent, sensible and helpful. Academically, he is coping well and seems prepared to enter Primary 1 in 2013. His interest in Chinese is fascinating, considering we do not speak much Chinese at home. But more importantly, socially and emotionally, I am pleased he is able to relate well with other children and indeed live up to the school motto's of "I think I can!" attitude. Thanks & keep up the good work!"

"My daughter Sydney was a very shy girl who would hide or even cry when she is talked to by strangers. We decided to enrol her into the Playgroup program at Licdo. I have noticed a huge change in her and now she is a much more confident and out-going girl and thriving in K1. She used to have a problem pronouncing certain words but after the speech and phonics classes, she now speaks accurately and fluently. My son is also enrolled in Licdo and I can see both of them learning new things and being able to speak some Chinese. This is comforting for me as we do not speak Chinese at home. I would recommend the LiCdo program for any parent who wants their little ones to have a well-rounded pre-school education both socially and academically."

"We parents of Jayseelan would like to share a wonderful deed we encountered from our son's act of consideration and support. What surprises us was that he is only 5 and took his own initiative to help out in the house. Our maid has left for home leave and knowing that this will mean more workload for his mother, Jayseelan, without anyone's instructions decided to start cleaning the house, wiping, washing and even babysitting his young sister. When we ask him why and how he knew about doing these chores, he said he learnt it in his preschool where everyone has to be responsible and helpful to clean up. It is reassuring to know he is learning such good character building from LiCdo Schoolhouse's teaching and its staff's nurturing. We as parents of Jayseelan would like to thank the school and its staff for such a good change and quality development in his character. Thank You and we appreciate your support and grooming of our son and in future, our daughter."

"Dear teacher Teo & teacher Pat,
Thank You so much for taking such good care of Kieran these past 2 years. LiCdo Schoolhouse is an outstanding example of how passionately dedicated teachers can bring out the best in the children.
We have always found, without exception, all the teachers and caregivers to be nurturing, patient, open minded and generous with their time.
Kieran has thouroughly enjoyed his time at your schoolhouse and will miss everyone – so will we. My husband and I wish you all the best and please contact us if you visit Australia."

"I just wanted to drop a note to thank the teachers & staff of Licdo Schoolhouse for a great job in looking after Ian (K2) & Jan (K1). Ever since the school was taken over by Mr Teo & company, I have noted an improvement in hygiene and the physical condition of the school compound.
The previous management did not upkeep the compound well and there were more mosquitoes. Now I can see that the play area is cleaned daily and more care has been taken to ensure the well being of the children. Besides the physical well being of the children, I also sense that the teachers have a genuine concern for the children. I have seen them growing and developing very nicely in the last 2 years and I have no doubt that Licdo Schoolhouse has played a pivotal role in their development. Once again, thank you & do keep up the great work at Licdo."

"LiCdo Schoolhouse has wielded an instrumental influence on Yun Bing (K2) over the last one and a half years she spent at the centre. It has helped expand her mental horizon on all things surrounding her, develop an inquisitive mind and cultivate an affinity to reading in her.
Not only these, she has also learned important skills like dealing and socialising with people. She has changed from a shy, timid and quiet girl to someone who is at ease with people around her and speaks her mind loud and clear. *GRIN*.
Many a times, Yun Bing came back home narrating what she learnt in school and I was amazed at the kind of things she learnt since I thought it is hard to impart to a child such knowledge. This is something which I did not notice in childcare services provided by other pre-school centres such as those rendered to her elder sisters. I must say a big Thank you to all teachers in LiCdo who helped shape Yun Bing's character and mental faculties from a tender age, and make a significant yet positive impact on her impressionable mind. My special thanks goes to Teacher Pat her English teacher, as well as Qiu Lao Shi her Chinese teacher. Both teachers made a concerted effort to provide an all-rounded education to Yunbing, and ground her with a positive attitude towards learning. I now see a confidence in my child that was absent when she first stepped into LiCdo. I am glad that I have made the right choice in enrolling Yun Bing in LiCdo. "

"Sherry (K1) is the younger daughter of our two children. She is a very cheerful and adorable girl but we do notice she is rather spoilt and stubborn. She would insist things her way, refuse to share her toys or belongings, or apologise whenever she did something wrong. Saying sorry for her always seems an impossible task even under ‘threats’. So we were very surprised to hear she has actually learned to apologise in school and she also tells us the things she shares with her friends. To be honest though, it is still a struggle for her at home but we are glad enough there is now some light at the end of a pretty long ‘tunnel’.
Curriculum wise, I must confess that initially when LiCdo started 2 years ago, we were rather skeptical as it was a totally new school without any history or record. My wife, however, gave her strong approval after having quietly observed and scrutinised ‘things’. She was particularly impressed by the dedication and commitment of the staff, down to even the daily food selection being conscientiously planned and prepared for the children. We are also pleased with the carefully planned and well rounded syllabus the school offers that include excursions, cookery and computer classes which Sherry thoroughly enjoys and looks forward to. She used to dread going to school previously and will find all conceivable reasons not to. But these days, she even sulks when her grandfather arrives later to send her to school and would actually pester him by phone to urge him to come quickly.
One notable point that deserves special mention is that we are indeed surprised by her vocabulary and command of English at her age. She does shock us at times by her sudden word or phrase that we never expected her to know or say at her age.
And finally, the truly multi-nationalities of the children in this school stands out too which we deem it is good for children to learn to interact and be exposed to different cultures. Just see for yourself. We thus have no qualms to strongly recommend LiCdo Schoolhouse to any parents with good reasons. "

“My son Darren (N2) has been attending LiCdo Schoolhouse for almost a year. During this time, he has learnt to be more sociable and independent. Another great improvement is his Chinese language. After attending school, he began to sing Chinese songs at home and also makes an effort to speak mandarin when spoken to. Most important of all, he is happy at school.
Soon his little brother will join him. Though I will feel the anxiety of his first few days at school, I am confident the school will take good care of him.”

'My son Saravanan (N2) has shown lots of improvement in terms of communicating in English. It is quite evident that the speech & drama lessons have played a vital role in his learning. Nowadays, he practises the songs learnt at home as well. I would like to commend the teachers for making this remarkable improvement possible. I like the topic reports in the communication booklet. I think Maths needs a bit of emphasis. I think LiCdo is doing a great job. Thanks for taking an extra effort in Saravanan's well being as well.'

'Searching for a school that matched our needs was not an easy task. LiCdo met all our criteria. It is located in a quiet, green neighbourhood with easy parking available for drop-off and pick-ups. The school has a sizable garden area with excellent outdoor structures. It has a good balance between work and play and most importantly, the school has a real family feel to it. The teachers and staff are personal and friendly. They take the time to get to know the needs of the child and do their best to encourage and nurture the child. The teachers make you feel that your child is the only child they are looking after. LiCdo gives you the confidence an anxious parent needs.
After 1 week in LiCdo, I noticed that my daughter was more sociable and confident. She enjoys the playschool/childcare and likes her teachers. '

'My son, Zi Tian is currently attending LiCdo.This is his 2nd childcare. As compared to his previous chilcare, I feel his is much happier & has learned a lot more. The teachers are very dedicate, caring & loving. The open air dining is also on the best place I like, the children can take their meal and at the same time enjoy the greenery environment.'

'My son Ian, is currently attending LiCdo Schoolhouse. This is his 3rd childcare ctr in 3yrs and I feel this is one of the best he has attended. The programme is varied, with baking and gardening as part of the curriculum. The teachers will make effort to indicate on his work what he said about his drawing and/or in which area he is weak at or good at. There is structure and regular updates on the program and you know what he has been learning in school. I can also tell that Ian enjoys school and he will come home and tells us about it and teach us some of the songs he learnt. I would recommend LiCdo to anyone who is looking for a school for their children to attend.'

'We have enrolled our son Jayseelan for the past 1 month. This is his first child care and development experience. Previously, he has attended a couple of play group activities as part of his development. As such, we have been careful and demanding in Jayseelan next growth and learning journey. The progress we noticed in our son has been postive in such a short span. My wife Jamie and myself, find the various curriculum and structure in LiCdo SChoolhouse to be well balance for different age groups in early childhood development. Even though the center is newly establish, it is definitely well implemented in its many elements as a growing educational and childcare center.'

'My daughter, Li Ting, has been with this school since she was 3 years old. I am indeed impressed by the dedication and commitment of the teachers towards provided utmost care for the children. One great thing is the school tries their best to keep up the hygiene standards. They make sure that every student takes their temperature every morning before lessons.
Besides, my daughter has grown up to be more cheerful and interactive under the guidance of the teachers there. She cannot wait to share with me her fun learning experience in the school each day she comes home. LiCdo schoolhouse is definitely a right choice for any parent as they know how to discover the potential in every child=)'

'I enrolled my son, Ivan, 3 years old, in LiCdo. In just less than a month, I noticed my son started singing the songs he picked up in LiCdo and sprouting new words. I like the fact that the environment is conducive for learning. I am also comforted by the fact that the centre does not need to use aircon as the place is airy enough, which definitely will cut down the chances of spreading germs. '
